NEPAL 1 is the first Nepali language Satellite Channel being beamed from India. The transponder is on Thaicom’s Asia beam. It is primarily targeted towards the cable homes of the Nepalese community in North Bengal, Sikkim and North Eastern States in India, the whole of Nepal, Burma, and Malaysia, right up to Hong Kong. There are approx. four lakh cable homes in Nepal, out of a total seven-lakh TV homes. NEPAL1 is positioned as an infotainment Channel. We are also in the process of tying up the distribution in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkatta Bangalore and Hyderabad and where there is a substantial Nepali population.

The existing Nepali media has been unable to take advantage of the diverse Nepali diasporas, as they have largely focussed in the primary markets only. NEPAL 1 fills this void successfully by developing a platform that is easily identifiable everywhere. The programming which constitutes 90% Nepali and the rest in Hindi is packaged in such a way that NEPAL 1 is poised to become the only medium that covers the whole “Nepali World” on one platform.

Some programmes on our channel are the most sought after e.g. Sagar’s Ramayana dubbed in Nepali, News with a global Nepalese perspective e.g. the role of Gorkha regiment in the Iraq war, Career and Health shows giving contact details of the educational courses and hospitals featured, Nepali soaps from top-notch Nepali directors, super-hit Hindi Films and much-much more.

Eventually, NEPAL 1 is a consolidator of the Nepalese community in India and Nepal as one Consumer Group for the advertisers to take advantage of. The presence of your brands on the channel will not only give them exposure in Nepal but also a good consumer market in the North-East and parts of India.
